I have researched on your website and found that my chicken probably has cocci (red poop and lathargic). Can anyone tell me what Sarasota vet will test the chicken poop I collected and where I can get the chicken medicine? I am worried the chicken may not make it through another day. I read on your site to try yogurt, but I can't get the chicken to eat it.
Thank you for your help.

Hi there!

If after researching you feel your chicken has cocci, I would just start administering meds rather than waiting for a vet to test a fecal sample.

I'm dealing with this too with my chicks. I just got back from Tractor Supply with Corid in hand. You can also use Sulmet, but Corid is preferred (and far less expensive). I think most feed and farm supply stores carry it. I'm using 3/4 - 1 1/2 tsp per quart of water.

I hope your chick recovers quickly!

ETA: If you'd rather see a vet, check out the VCA website. http://www.vcahospitals.com They have many locations in FL, and offer a coupon for a free exam. My local VCA has two avian specialists.
