Hi all, I have a 1.5 year old EE hen that has had massive diarrhea for months. I have tried everything. Rounds of corrid. Probiotics. Tylan injectable. Electrolytes. I have waited in between to give her time to recover. Poop sample to vet that said small traces of cocci but nothing abnormal. She eats and drinks fine, no signs of wasting, She is low hen and constantly shunned. The diarrhea started when our roosters passed away from Mereks. She is vaccinated against Mareks. She has been on the same diet since she started laying. She molted this winter, stopped laying. All of a sudden last week she laid one perfect blue egg, and nothing since.
When I say diarrhea, every poop is muddy and shoots out of her. You can hear it across the yard. Its all over the coop walls. I have 6 other hens and they are all fine, with the exception of hating her. She does not have poopy butt and from what I can tell, nothing blocking her vent. At first, her poop was gritty with undigested seed. Now its just mud.
I am trying Albon this week, after that I have no idea what to do. I cant even get a valid sample to take back to vet because it shoots everywhere and is contaminated right away. Help!

One way to collect a decent sample of droppings to test is to confine her overnight to a dog crate with puppy pads under her. A gram stain can test for enteritis or bacteria.

I had a hen once who constantly had watery diarrhea. Some will drink large amounts of water which can cause that. Enteritis can cause undigested feed to pass in droppings. I would continue offering her a tsp or so of plain yogurt for probiotics (or use an animal probiotic powder.) Cottage cheese might help firm up her stools.
