I just noticed one of my bantam hens has a swollen left side of her face, near her beak, its swollen about the size of a small pea, I opened up her mouth and it looks like she may have gotten some sort of cut that may have gotten an infection in it. She let me pull some of the infection out of her mouth, but is there something I can give her? I know epsom salts are good but I cant really soak her beak, can I put some peroxide on a q-tip and clean it?

Any help would be really appreciated! She is acting normal, eating and drinking, but I dont want it to get any worse.

Well, you can always introduce antibiotics in her drinking water to help fight off infection, but as for cleaning the wound itself I swear by vetericyn. It's expensive, but it works. If you opt to use peroxide, use it only for cleaning the actual infection out but it can kill healthy skin too and you don't want to use it in the long term. You were able to see the cut then? Some respiratory diseases result in cheesy substances in the face. Best of luck!
