Hi,
I’m ChickenDave, a newly retired mechanical engineer who is planning on raising about 10 chickens for eggs.

I’m looking at 6 Rhode Island Reds and 4 Aracauna or Ameraucana (I like blue eggs).

Right now I’m looking for DIY coop designs. I have lots of room so space is not a consideration.

Any help or ideas are appreciated.
If anyone can recommend a good book with lots of cool design ideas, I would be most grateful.

Hello Dave, and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.

I recommend you convert a used shed into a coop. It is the fastest way to get a coop done and the biggest bang for your buck. I converted an old shed and it was the best thing I ever did to make my chicken keeping experience easy.
