Chickens and corn?

Will chickens eat corn as it grows if it grows in their run? Will they be able to reach the top of the stalks?

I imagine that if you planted directly into the chicken run, the plants wouldn't even have a chance to grow because they would be eaten/trampled if they germinated.

Good to know. Ilike corn (and so do they), but I still need to plan a fenced off area for it.

One place easily eliminated.
