Hi all
Since fireworks are right around the corner has anyone ever had any problems with chickens being afraid or running away?

My dog is skittish and my cats hide when the fireworks get going. I am keeping the chickens in the run today and not freeranging because I was afrraid they would have "issues" with all the loud noises. And of course it seems as if every one has the "artillary shells" that go BOOM really loud and surprising like.

My chickens don't normally like to go in the coop (and ducks) until almost 9pm, and the fireworks start long before that.

My husband sets off fireworks in our back yard.

The chickens at that time are locked up in the coop for the night anyways because it's dark. I sat in there once to see what they would do. And they just basically stayed roosted. I heard a few soft clucks the first 2 he set off. Then nothing but a turn of the head. But no anixety and no wanting to hide. He set off a few bottle rockets during the day. All they ever did was look cluck once or twice and forgotten again. They really didn't seem to mind. They seem to hate the firehouse horn more then the firworks. For that they keep shaking their heads. I guess cause it keeps sounding for about 30 sec. If I didn't know what that horn was I would think my ears were ringing and I can't get it to stop.

I wouldn't be too worried about them. Enjoy your Holiday!!!

Well, my fears are at rest. They are in their coop, on the roosts, SOUND ASLEEP

!!

All that worrying for nothing-and the fireworks are going off like crazy right now. But you know on any other day I could look at the chickens the wrong way or say"Boo", and they would turn flighty on me-sheesh!
