I had a friend in WV who had his insurance canceled when his insurance agent saw a brace for his front porch roof. Someone delivering a dump truck load of wood somehow backed into the edge of the porch resulting in damage to the supporting column that supported the roof. This happened on a Friday. A contractor came out put up the brace and planned to come back the next week to repair the column. The insurance agent showed up Monday saw the brace and cancelled the policy. After the column was repaired he would not reinstate the insurance because of the wood burning stove to heat the house.
When my friend Iinformed the agent that he had been insuring the house for years with the wood burning stove heating the house the agent informed him that if the house had burned, when the fire marshall investigated, the wood burning stove would have voided the policy.
