We used to do a lot of scuba diving and photography. When we went through the pics afterwards, "fish-butt" was the code word as we looked at frame after frame where the fish would move away just a little too fast.

Now it's "chicken-butt"!

That's about it. I don't get the chance to get down on their level for the pics. My rooster hollers the camera warning and all the hens disappear.

Hey

I'm in Jersey in the Uk. A flyspeck of an island between England and France.

Has one advantage: No predators to speak of. There is the odd sparrow hawk and apparently a polecat. But no foxes!

If you are looking to get posed pics, try putting them on something tall, like a fence post (see my webpage for some examples). They are so unsure of themselves for about 30 seconds that you can get some great shots before they realize that they can fly off and not be diving to their doom.

For the 1st few seconds, they are too nervous for a good photo. Tails down and sort of crouched. Then they start thinking 'Hmm, this is pretty cool' and they stand up and start looking curious. Thats when you take your shots. Cause about 3 seconds later...all you get is wings and butts...lol
