Chickens and rain

My birds LOVE the rain. We don't get a lot of it down here, when it happens they stand out under the gate where it pours out the draining part getting soaked.

But then again, I have a feeling my chickens aren't quite normal.

If it is a mild rain, they stay out. Heavy warm rain they might even stay out. On cold days and rain, they go in.

Mine love the rain too. (course I think they are part duck cause they love to sit in the water basin and when free ranging a couple actually get in the pool when it's hot

They also love the snow (the hens doo the chicks haven't seen it yet)

I watched my chickens stand around in the rain on Sunday also. When it got really heavy the older chickens went into the coop, but the 4 "teenagers" who had never been in the rain stayed out all day and seemed to enjoy tromping around in the mud. Since it wasn't cold I wasn't worried.

Ours love a nice, steady rain. But they do usually seek shelter if it comes too hard or too windy.

Mine love the rain too, but if the breeze kicks up the slightest, they go running for the coop!

henny and her old sisters all hated the rain, the first sign of it and theyre back in the coop, before coming to us they were all brought up in a battery farm so never got to see the outdoors, perhaps for them the lack of early experience has put them off.
