I live in the mountains where the eclipse will last about 2 mins 40 seconds. I help run a vacation rental and people started booking about 6 months in advance. It's crazy! I too wonder what my chickens will do. I will probably not freerange them the day of the eclipse to minimize them freaking out.

They will not freak out.

We were in Booneville MO yesterday, talking to a woman who works at the Katy Trail visitor center. They are very close to the blue line, and she's been told by state park officials to expect the 'equivalent of a natural disaster' crowd wise. They speculate that I 70 could be 'like a parking lot....'

We hopefully will not be travelling that day. Certainly not on I-70. We have people around us expecting to take on visitors that will be camping on their property for the event. I will stock up just in case we get a zombie breakout.

I'm officially a villain now. Got a call from the in laws in Ohio saying they were coming to view the event in my backyard. I promptly told them no they were not. I'm not mean I swear, they are loud always bring a pack of dogs with them wherever they go and their children are nearly feral. I will not have my eclipse be fudged by in laws.

I am OK with concern about dogs. Kids need to see such more than anybody. Feral kids? If we were related you might be talking about my family.

I would love for the kids to see it but they would have to be dogless and parentless.Without the parents they are manageable and teachable even, but with them forget about it. I will extend the offer of taking the kids for an overnighter. Give the parents a break hopefully they'll take the offer but I'm not betting on it.

I'm in the upstate of South Carolina, you know there's a big event happening when folks are flocking here. :)
I am in the upstate also and will miss the eclipse! I totally forgot about it when I made plans to head up north. I told hubby to take pictures of the chickens so that I could see if they had any reactions.
