Chickens and Ticks

Do chickens eat ticks? And can chickens get ticks? I've seen two on one of my dogs that since yesterday!

There might be ticks on some of your chicks but there ain't no ticks on me! My chickens eat ticks I think-they don't get any!

from everything I have read chickens eat ticks, but they say guineas are better,My dogs wander in the hills so we have to check them daily for ticks. My gd went to the dr for a heart scan, and they found one on her, she was so embarrassed that she almost cried.

If they can find a tick, they will eat them!

I've never seen one on mine, though I know that birds do harbor them. Maybe it's all the dust baths?

Sundance, we comb our dogs for them too, with a flea comb. I feel so sorry for your dgd.

Thanks everyone! I feel better now and will not worry about my chickens getting ticks.

They do eat them, My Roo has actually got on a deer after my husband shot it and started picking them off.

chickens an guiens will eat alot of ticks.the guins are great tick eaters.
