chickens and vegetable gardens??

you could always clip their wings, or the ones that fly over the fence! some hens will not fly over. we have a white delaware that still flies over our 6 foot fence! she is the only one!!!!

Yep, I set our little bantam rooster on the counter the other day and I turn around and see a foot long plant hanging out of his beak. I looked around and realized that my mom had been starting her corn and tomato seeds on the window sill. He slurped it up like a piece of spaghetti

It was a corn plant. So, yes I think they will eat about anything green. Put chicken wire around anything that you plant. It's not very pretty, but I have figured out that you can't have chickens and a beautiful garden unless you have the money to build a nice tall wood fence around it.

yep watch out for those corn seeds.... if they find one they will find them all.. i planted 6 rows of corn none grew but had alot of grass grow back though..;..this year i bought a plastic fense to go around the garden.....

They don't eat garlic or onions. In fact, the chickens will eat the weeds around the garlic, so you don't have to do any weeding!

A 3 foot fence works to keep out our heavy breed hens from the rest of the veggies. The RIR could probably fly over if she wanted, but the chickens get so much food and treats I don't think they would bother.
