chickens as house pets? Opinions and views

Pics
.:D Ive lived with dogs, fleas, ticks, sick on floor, shit on floor if they don't get out last thing at night. Chewed furniture, broken ornaments and of course, they don't always like the guests.
I've lived with cats......yuk, filthy selfish flea riiden, torturing, scrtching, smelly little *******.
The chickens are really well behaved compared to the above.
I didn't want them in the bedroom and to discourage them I taped a wire accross the doorway; there is no door, and ran a small electric current through it. They don't step over the wire.
Sometimes a pullet will jump onto my work table but if a senior hen is there the pullet get a few serious pecks when I put her back on the floor from the senior hen.
They have never brought fleas into the house,or any other pest. They don't drag in other dead creatures either.
Mostly they sit under my chair as I work, or lay an egg in the egg box and leave.
They do shit on the floor though and I have been told that it is posibleto house train them but I wouldn't; I just clean up a lot.

So, for me it's not a question of can you keep chickens in the house; it's should you keep chickens in the house and my answer is an emphatic NO!
That's just plain nasty!

You Didint believe that silkiemother trained their chickens to not poo in the bath, I was replying to say that it is possible, and its not that hard. Also keep in mind that teaching them to not poo in certain situations is not actually potty training.
Correct. I do not believe it still. Anything is possible - a giant reptilian sea monster could rise and kill us all tomorrow - doesn’t mean it’s realistic. It’s not. And neither is potty training a chicken. And yes I don’t believe that they trained the chicken not to poo in the bath. That’s just silly.

There's no such thing as "only a teenager!" Teens are real people, too, and a fresh perspective is always welcome! Especially if the teen is a budding Crazy Chicken Lady, like you!

Only you know what's right for you and your biddies. If it works for you, you go right ahead and do it! Remember that advice and opinions are only options, not "gospel." That's the best part of asking for advice ... you get to sift through it all and figure out what works best for you, right now. The rest, well, you can take it or leave it or file it away for some new situation further down the road.

You'll do fine, Darlin' - you just go enjoy your "baby" for the time she has left. And while you're at it, keep your eyes open for a new one to spoil ... that is, after all, half the fun!
Bad advice to give a 14 year old child. Especially since the mother isn’t gong to allow it if she has half a brain.

.... no I’m not one more thing... a chicken with a diaper is CRUEL and disgusting. Nobody in the house could have a job or go to school or even leave for more than 2 hours. How is a chicken going to lay an egg with a diaper on??? And what, is it just going to walk around the house with poo smushed to it’s vent all day long??? What about going on vacation? Who is going to come change chicken diapers???
