Chickens attacked , killed and mauled by neighbors dog-

No smell but once again I just wonder how this will ever close/heal. Trying to have faith and read other past posts. Thankfully no smell at all.


3xs a day
Vetericyn Poultry spray
Neosporin (generic- already went through 2 tubes in 3 days)
Scarlet Oil

Wondering if I should add anything else or alternate

Because it's so hot here I figured Bella my unharmed E.E. can enjoy a little dust bath or two outside. This is what she does instead in less than an hour back there. Then she comes in panting. She's never had issue with the heat and she's only been inside for 10days.

We are at the point we may be rehoming both once Maisie heals. I can't take a chance with the neighbors dogs and they are complete------------ we want NO association with them at all nor do we want our fence to continue with damage or worrying of them digging under. Just don't want aggravation

Update - her little bandana was flipped up and she pecked it all out. Can't really tell from her but the back skin is much higher than middle. Same day a couple hours apart


10 days ago my hens were attacked by neighbors dog. I have a post in the Predator Forum. Does her wound look as though it is trying to close? No smell.

Should I back off on any of it?
She's been to the vet 2xs. She was having slow wound closure the first week so I stopped the Silver Sulf ointment as I read studies it can delay wound closures.

The bottom portion of the wound is MUCH higher than middle

Just keep treating it and be patient, it will heal. I'm very much in favor of a twice-daily saline spray and triple-antibiotic smear to keep it moist. Our injured hen's wound healed from the outer edges to the center. You're so blessed to have a vet's care! If there is an odor, is it coming from the hen, or is it on the covering?

No more odor. I'm pretty sure it was coming from the silver sulfadizine

So Bella my uninjured Easter Egger is doing a little better in our backyard even though it appears extremely lonely. However at night I plan to bring her in to sleep with Maisie so they still see each other. How ver, as the sun goes down Bella is already at my back door and just to see how she would br I put her in the coop. She was not having it.
How long could it take for them both to get used to the coop again? I'm so used to chickens with my Omelet door that I just always double check before bed.
