Today is the first day in a couple of months that the girls have been outside--the snow has finally melted away from the pop door so they can make it into the chicken yards. They're soaking up the sunshine and adding some grit to their diet.

Hate to tell you...it's 85 degrees here in North Texas today, and my daughter and husband are going swimming.

You'll get even with us this summer, though, because by July we'll be sweltering at 100 degrees plus.

Yesterday afternoon I let my girls out to free range for the first time since last fall. They were so happy, running around from one melted spot to the next!

I'm about 150 miles south of San Francisco and I'm waiting for the rattle of hail.

Well, I added up this years snow fall not even an inch. Woodmort, how many inches did you get this season. It only snowed once where I'm at. I'm not a big fan of snow but I was hoping for one good snow storm because my farm is beautiful covered in snow. Well , we are now up in the 80's & 60 at nite. It does get hotter than a firecracker here & summers last forever.

(Grrrr warm year round weather) Hi! I'm from Wisconsin! We had over 25" in 1 storm!

I couldn't even get to the run to take a picture of it!

But, the snow is gone (at least for now) and the girls are loving it!

O my god!!! I'm staying in Texas I just saw your weber & thought to myself those poor people can't BBQ. I would starve to death if I couldn't eat BBQ.

My 3 little baby pullets were soaking it up the other day in the coop doorway, dust bathing in bedding instead of going all the way outside with the big girls. They're a little shy still. But the big girls found a wonderful spot at the stump of a tree that fell, right mixture of saw dust, fluffy dirt, and fresh spring greenery growth I guess.

We had over 120 inches of snow since last November--as of January 2 the ground was bare(it was in the 50's on New Year's Day) but we got 90 or so since then. As of this morning most of the snow is gone where it wasn't piled up either by plowing or drifting or in the deep shade but the ground is muddy and wet. One of the problems with my coop is the design which, if you check out my BYC page, causes the snow to slide off the roof in front of the pop door--that not only keeps the chickens from not wanting to go out but makes getting to it tough.
