Chickens carry tons of diseases... (CPS alert!)

Hahaha that's funny and sweet. Don't worry I have 2 close friends, a spattering of less close friends that live here. My family is all out of state, but I'm sure they would do something. I'm not worried about it going that far. I'm too much of a fighter. Plus my lawyer is on speed dial.

I know! My daughter and I researched that 'old wive's tale" after watching it on Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman. It just never made sense to me either.

Ew, dogs are so gross lol. Ours is sleeping on our living room futon curled up snoring at the moment. She digs in garbage, eats cat poop, licks up anything interesting on the floor, rolls around in the grass in God knows what. She's a great companion and a lovely addition to our house, but honestly she's gross compared to the cats and the chicks. The cats, well they are prissy just like the chicks. Just 2 cats, any more than that seems to get stinky. Plus I learned for myself keeping one neutered male cat and one spayed female cat seems to be a good combo for them and me. No aggression, no spraying, good friends for each other. They usually groom each other and hang out together. Of course they do lick their butts too but they can't use toilet paper :p

, I can understand what you are going through. My DD who is 24 lives with me along with her 2 daughters. When she kicked her now ex-husband out he called the police and SRS (same as CPS) more times then I can count. At the time we had 4 baby chicks in the house niether the police or SRS said a thing about the chicks except it was not against the law to have them and at the time the little ones where a year old and the 2nd just months old. We also had 5 dogs and 5 cats, plus 10 chickens outside. No problems he still does call the police sometimes, The last time because the youngest daughter was supposed to have a black eye and scratches on her face, not true, the police officer wanted to come into the house I said no my DH works nights and was sleeping I did not want the dogs waking him up. Since he saw both girls and saw that they where not hurt or had any marks no probable cause to enter the house. It felt good to say back off I am done with this game. We do have a program called Family preservation which we have workers in just to help avoid this problem any more they have seen our home and know that it is safe for the kids. I hate the fact that anyone can call in and make a report and you have to prove that the report is false, I have dealt with great police officers and some that need a different job they let the power go to their heads and feel they have the right to be mean and nasty. Good luck and I am glad you have a lawyer on your side.

I heard or read somewhere that the cleanliness in the dogs mouth is from their saliva which has very powerful germ killing agents within it. Even if this IS true, just knowing what they might have in thier mouths is still totally gross to me.
Might as well put your bare hand into a carcass, feces or vomit if you like being licked by a dog, imo.

So the research we did on the dog's mouth thing, said that the reason people started believing that their mouths were cleaning than ours is because they would lick their wounds and it would seem to help them heal. So the actual reason why they do this is removing dead tissue which helps encourage the growth of new tissue. They said it was akin to a surgeon wiping a wound to stimulate circulation. That's what it does for dogs.

Also any antibacterial qualities in a dogs or humans mouths are far outweighed by the bacteria we both harbor. Most of the bacteria dogs carry in their mouths would not affect a human, but things they put in their mouths could.

Some people are disgusting. Chickens ARE NOT filthy and disgusting. My bantams are pets and they are clean and beautiful. I keep them that way. I powder them, put good smelling creams on their combs, use baby wipes on their feet and even bathe them in warm weather. So much for filthy and disgusting. And yes, I HUG AND KISS MY CHICKENS EVERYDAY and have for over 30 years. I see some people's cats and dogs and they are gross and disgusting. Dirty, smelly and flea bitten. My chickens are actually cleaner than some humans I know and even smell better.

So, your avatar? Are these the disease ridden suspects that are going to kill your family and probably the entire town?
I better write out a will now in case it spreads to Minnesota!
