Chickens don’t like Carhartt

The oddest things make them freak out! Currently have two flexible Black drain pipes connected to the two downspouts near the far side of their run. I have to pull the green garden hose over it sometimes. They are familiar with the hose and that has never ever bothered them. But the sound of the hose as it moves over the black plastic cause the chickens to scramble and the rooster to sound multiple alarm calls!! Every single time!!

Nothing seemed to both my flock- coat, hats, 4-wheeler, even my giant dog- they’re cool with everything... except when I need to use my cane. Absolute mayhem. Flying into fence, hiding under bushes, crowding around the dog. Screaming their heads off. I learn something every time I’m with them. Mostly I learn to expect the unexpected.

Mine are pretty tolerant of my clothing and coats. It did take them awhile to adjust to my red chicken sloggers. They still occasionally peck at them. What used to get them crazy for a little while was bringing in a whole bag of feed to store in the can inside the coop. Now they understand that there is food in that and they're fine with it. They're still not crazy about cardboard.

Mine are fine with anything we wear, anytime. Objects that resemble the nasty fish net aren't loved, but that's about it.
I think that having a multigenerational flock makes a huge difference! The youngsters learn from adults, who have so much more experience, and other things to worry about, rather than whatever any of us are wearing.
They do avoid machinery, so nobody has died under one of our vehicles anyway.
