Chickens Fav Treats!!!!

So far my girl love
grapes
strawberries
lettuce
kale
corn
and dried mealworms

Thats all I've given them so far, but Im sure that list will be expanding as they get older!

Raw chicken bones are an invitation to intestinal perforations.

On all the websites I've just looked at, it seems that mostly happens with cooked (rather than raw) bones.


My chickens' favourite treats in order of preference are:
- mealworms
- dried goji berries / raisins
- cooked chicken
- greek yogurt
- fresh fruit and veg (grapes, lettuce, cucumber 'guts', apples, spinach, rocket, honey dew melon)
- oatmeal

They'll try new things, but don't always take an instant liking to them
I usually wait another week or two before giving it to them again and sometimes they end up loving the stuff!

A few of my flocks favorites are bread,meal worms,spaghetti, scratch,melons,corn,mashed potatoes,they like milk pretty well too,and the biggest treat of them all FREE RANGE!! Haha I don't know a chicken that doesn't like free ranging...good thread!

My girls are only 7 weeks right now, but I am contemplating all these great things for them to peck at. I want to put a swing next to my coop's run when it is finished and just be able to sit and watch in the shade.

Our chickens and ducks will fight each other for cherry tomatoes. The chickens like raisins but don't care for grapes and the opposite is true of the ducks.

That's exactly what we do, every evening we sit under our big shade tree and watch the birds. It's so very relaxing, someone without chickens would not get it at all.

I was talking to the guy that owns the local market. He said when he was younger they had 1 chicken that loved tomatoes. Like the kid that "samples" the bottom of each piece of candy in a box, this chicken would take a bite out of EVERY tomato in the garden!
