Chickens Fav Treats!!!!

One of my little ones in action. I wonder why some like it and some don't? Now they really go nuts for it when its fermented in sauerkraut. Raw they are not super fans of it but if I leave almost anything long enough in their run, they'll finish it off.

A neighbor brought me an 8.5 lb cabbage. I made a lot of cabbage but forgot to put the second batch in the fridge. Left it overnight. So we wouldn't eat it. I left it sitting for a while and finally put out for them. Not a speck left. I still have the core, I was going to hang it but I might boil it and throw it out to them.

I'm going to start making them sauerkraut I think. I get it from the condiment thing at QT when I get a hot dog and bring it home to them. They go nuts. Anybody else try it yet?

Great tips, I'm new to chickens and have 2 questions about treats: first, how old should they be before I give them treats, and what are things you should never give as treats ?

Here is something I haven't seen mentioned yet. Please forgive me if you are offended by this post it's just how chickens can be.

My girls love the remains of the animals my cat half eats. The spoiled thing never finishes off a meal and can catch 2 to 3 critters a day. I decided to keep the remains away from the wasps and found directions for building a Maggot Farm (for feeding maggots to chickens) on the web. So i set out to make a maggot farm. Well to make a long story short when the maggots started falling out the bottom the chickens knocked over the farm and ate all the maggots and the new fresher meat inside.

So i now miss the smelly step and just toss the pour half ate things to the chickens and they disappear in no time.

chickens are great garbage disposals!
It's definitely much easier to make dinner and go shopping with just two people...whenever we have "the kids" to finish off what we don't eat or stays in the fridge for just a bit too long lol.

Just two of us here too Sub and the same goes as well. All out leftovers that we never eat and whatever else comes around. They're little buzzards I think.
