Rooster damage would be my guess too, then! It’ll just take some time but the feathers will grow back.

Upon a through check of hens I have found I do have lice infestation that I have been battling since I free range. DE hasn't done anything as mystery chicken stated. I'm going to treat the chickens with what was suggested but should I use it in there dusting bath.

Do you have a rooster? This looks more like typical rooster damage. I see this with my birds.

No, mites only irritate the skin, & can cause feather loss, & swelling of the follicles.

Mites can cause anemia, depending on the type of mites.

I do have lice infestation, examine several birds closely. Your right DE has done nothing complete waste. Can I add the garden & poultry dust with permethrin to there dusting area after I treat the chics?

I used Garden, & Poultry Dust containing permethrin about 5 days ago. I added it to their Dusting areas, so yes.

Thank you, do I need to replace bedding in coop also. I feel bad for girls and roo. Ongoing problem with free ranging.

Wouldn't hurt to change the bedding.
If you want, you can dust the floor of the coop before placing new bedding down as a way to kill mites inside, & potential new ones in the bedding. I haven't done this.

Does anyone put small amount of ACV in there water (plastic) everyday?
