Chickens first egg tastes funny

That’s good to know! Thanks! I’m still stumped as to why her eggs taste so bad though. Do you know if it be the Virginia creeper in my yard? They don’t eat it often, but if heard that it’s poisonous some places and harmless others.
I am unfamiliar with Virginia creeper. I’ve never had a weird tasting egg before either so I’m not sure what could cause it. You don’t give them onion or garlic do you? I’ve heard that can be the case but I’ve given it to my girls with no problems

Our Buff Orpington, Matilda, just started laying a couple of days ago, and her eggs taste really strange. They have strong shells and they taste great at first, but they have a strange aftertaste of chlorine or something. We have been feeding her a medicated chick starter, with mealworms, scratch and sunflower seeds as treats. Is the taste just because it’s her first eggs?

We usually throw away the first egg.

Hm. I just tried like the 6th one and it still tasted weird, so I don’t think it’s because she is a new layer but I could be wrong
It also could be that they are eating something and its effecting the eggs. My family has always said "what they eat is what they make" so if they eat garlic then there egg could change a little. One of my flocks lay funny tasting eggs but I haven't found out what yet.
