That made me laugh so loud I woke up my sister. Thanks for the awesome quote.

And I agree, the "silkie" they have on that site looks horrid.

... not that anyone cares, and not that anyone asked, ...but:
I ate a Silkie when I visited my mom in SLC.
Verdict: DELICIOUS! - and yet kinda creepy at the same time... every part of the bird was charcoal black... but did I mention DELICIOUS?
Thanks for allowing me to interrupt. Now back to our regularly scheduled posting...

I am not sure what is offensive in your original statement. Seems alright to me. I think it is simply a matter of perception. One of the difficult parts of written communication is not being able to add the nuance in your voice that often communicates intent. I recently had that same difficulty in an email I sent. Often just best to let it pass. That is what I decided to do.

I am really glad you posted this as it is getting me answers I didn't get in my post about silkies for meat birds. Thanks very much.

I've baked, smoked, fried, BBQd, and stewed silkie. Like with any chicken it's all about the original bird's age and size and the preparation method.

They don't have a lotta meat on them. It's not like a cornish hen which is just a young broiler.

Yes, I would expect so. A mouth full of feathers, mostly. Not much left once plucked. But some people use chicken for flavor rather than protein. In that case, if they have a distinctive flavor, it might have a good market.
Truffles come to mind. Not much used in most dishes, but without them, the taste just isn't right.
