Chickens gave me a healthy lifestyle!:)

I'm 13, almost 14 and i got interested when my younger brother's farm friend came over and then in sept i borrowed a '98 Mcmurray magazine. Though most in my class (most of the class means most of the guys, who most of them have told their parents) think i won't be able to pull of raising or even getting chickens because i live smack in the middle of the city, but i keep telling them what my mom told me-our property is zoned farm-residential-i could have a cow if my neighbors tolerated it. I almost wish i lived in the U.S. because of the right to farm law. I want to raise chickens because it develops responsibility, and my almost 18 year old neighbor who our family grew up since she was four, absolutely loves chickens, and even my dad helps me plan/supports me.

My 7 year old grandson is helping me with the chickens. He has also been helping me raise parrots since he was 4. He has a genuine interest in animals and has often talked about becoming a "bird doctor" when he gets older.

I really believe that if more of our young girls and boys, men and women got involved with animals in one way or another, they would turn out alot differently.

nice i live in N.S. But do not live in the city can not stand it. I say see what the laws are there may be some loop hole in them.Go for it i am going to be 14 in dec.

At 37 I'm getting my first chickens (April 1st). There are tentative plans to bring a couple to my sons elementary school (grades prek to 8). I'm looking forward to it.

8D good for you! i've never been good at gardening. just peas/flowers. In high school i was an intern at UAF (University of Alaska Fairbanks) working with genetics. it was then that i took the chicken raising to the next level.

we bred a tomato with only 4 seeds after i think 10 generations. that strain doesn't exist anymore, we ate them. anyhow yeah we worked mostly with peas and flowers to tweak with the genes and breeding.

what i REALLY REALLY REALLY want to do is to have some albino chickens... far-fetched i know, but my instructor's (50?) ambition in life was to breed a lap-cow... you know like the mini horses? except a cow? XD

funny guy.
