Very nice videos of "chicken mechanics".
One I would like to see is a hen pulling a worm. A few years ago when I got my first chickens one was quite fond of hanging around when I was digging. She would dash in and snag something I never saw, she was that fast. Sometimes I think the were ants or other bugs but she was also getting worms that were NOT on the surface. The only way I figured it out was one time when she didn't get it all the way out on the first try. Mostly it was "stab, swallow" so fast it was not possible to see in real time.
Awesome videos! I always try to get a photo of a rooster flapping his wings, I like strong looking roosters. The rooster "trying to drink" is so funny!! And the fling pullet is so neat! How far do you think she had to fly? :O Wonderful job on the videos!
That crazy pullet probably flew about 20 feet from where I was standing. I have two 8-foot-long pens along the right edge of where I shot that video, and she took off just before the nearer one and landed just beyond the further one.![]()
That's a great one!I happened to be in the right place at the right time and got a video of one of the pullets gathering oil from her uropygial gland (AKA the 'preen gland').
