Chickens in Slow Motion

Very cool!
Post what you got, I'll watch them:)
A mating video would be good. I know it's been done before (youtube has just about everything) but do you have a dog? A dog drinking water would be neat.

@aart I like Praying Mantis I have not seen any this year:( I get adults, but usually I have several babies on my porch each year, they are just adorable - TINY little things, I'm goofy, if you put out your hands they will just crawl right onto your fingers! LOL My husband will finally tell me to stop bugging the bugs and leave them alone:D I also like those hairy jumping spiders, I aggravate them.
I can tell fall is coming soon, at least here....the Writing Spiders have come out in full force. They put their webs in the most inconvenient locations! I have 2 of the things on my porch so far (they are there every year) but one insists on spinning a web between the gate posts:hmm I have to remember every morning to look if not, I have a face full of spider web - then you wonder if it pulled the big 'ol spider down with it LOL You start thinking it's crawling around on your back! There is another one that puts it web across the walkway to the chicken coop - yep, have to remember that one too.

I had a praying mantis as a 'pet' when I was a kid, I built a little cage out of balsa wood and window screen, it would drink water out of a spoon that I held. It didn't live long, most insects don't, but I sure enjoyed observing it for the few weeks I had it.
I like to toss stuff, live bugs if possible, into spider webs...but I don't like them on me.

I’ve already had too many spider webs on my face this year! :barnie

Not gonna lie, praying mantises give me the heebie-jeebies. Probably because of those eyes. But they are cool. You know, from a distance. Actually, I used to not be much of a bug person (which is the wrong term, just ask the entomology department at my university, but they're all bugs to me :tongue ), but I've gotten over that a lot. Still can't willingly touch most of them, but they don't absolutely freak me out.

Yeah, we have a dog. I can try and get that for you. :)

Are Writing Spiders those big round ones with the stripey orange legs? Those guys are out in force around here and just love putting webs in walkways. :he It's like an obstacle course to get to the duck yard! And on that note...

YES. I feel like they started early. So, so many spiders out right now! :sick

Here is another slow motion video featuring one of my munchkins (AKA Silkied Cochin bantams :D ). I was trying to get a good view of her preening, but she was switching location so much as she was going along that it was hard to predict where she would preen next! So, this is the best I got:
