I wonder if the Silkie eggs disrupted the snug fit too much since they were smaller... I'm sorry... :/

Oh, and I candled the last ones I set last night... Silkie eggs looked good, but the Cream Legbar eggs were mostly clears... I hope yours are better, but looks like I'll need to send you more...

No need to send more. I will let you know at day seven....that would be next Saturday. Lol!!!! You maybe right about the Silkie eggs being smaller causing the disturbance with the CLB eggs. It makes sense.

I can't wait until next week to check. Lol!!!! Well the fowl pox has moved to the next coop....which means that I'm sure everyone is going to get it. :hits. Poor chickies!!!!!

Well Ravyn, too late. I kept the big fella.
Jeez, I've never sold roosters this fast. Can't wait to start breeding these :D

That's awesome!! I've looked at silkie roosters since I moved the LOs, but I think I'll put the 2 silkie girls in with Katherine and Armand. They seem to get along, and it will give Armand more girls to work with, so he doesn't wear out Katherine. Plus, if I decide to hatch a few silkie eggs, I could get a sizzle! :)

I'll be watching. Frieda vs. Brinsea. :)

Hey Ravyn, these AM roosters are going fast, so I have a question. I have two blues I that I'm trying to decide between. One has much darker black feathers on his hackles and saddle, has a better type, is bigger, and is pretty much the Alpha, but is showing just two brown feathers on his saddle. The other is a little smaller, a little lighter, doesn't carry himself as proudly, but has no brown feathers showing. Is this what you mean by building the barn before painting? I'm leaning towards keeping the big boy. His type just looks better. What do you think?

Next time PM me... :smack

Was busy today and only checked for pm's, lol...

Ummm... well... now I want to see these feathers... yes, you want to build the barn before you paint it, *BUT*, you don't want to breed a cockerel with leakage...

Btw, how old are they?

Thanks for posting Ravyn, I've read that too about leakage, but I'm still a newbie in the Am world and like to learn from those with more experience.

SC, can you post pics of those feathers?

Leakage sucks, it is hard to breed out... and pullets from a leaky cockerel will carry it but not show it... :/

But there is leakage and there is sun damage... 2 different things... sun damage happens usually around mid feather and to the ends (parts of the feather not overlapped by others) and is either lighter, brownish or yellowish/brassy depending on the feather color...

I will see if I can get some pics today. Brassy is a very good way to describe it. Other than those 2 feathers, he was by far the best looking of the 4 blues. The smaller one I still had wasn't nearly as dark around the head and hackles as this one, and this one just "carries" himself much better. I kept the best black and a splash as well, so if I don't need to breed this one, I have plenty of BCM Pullets coming along for him.
I'm off today and tomorrow, so I'll see if I can get pics of the leading men
