Oh yeah, all of the chicks are doing great. I will give more update tomorrow. This last batch that hatched looks great except for the one that I haf the problems with over the weekend
We did. It went great. I can cut a dressed chicken into 8ths in 1 min 20 seconds. Good eating. Freezer has 23 Cornish X now.
I had one that was crying a lot, I think on Friday. I checked it out and it had a hard lump at its vent, but on the inside. Looked like it had never pooped, no pasty butt at all. I ended up having to cull it, and decided to do a necropsy to see what happened. It had what amounted to pasty butt on the inside. A hardened mass of poop just inside the vent. Either it's digestive system was incomplete, or something had ruptured and it was septic. It was one of two chicks that had hatched from my original hens, so I am 100% certain that they are the root of my earlier hatch failures. All of the large Davis eggs hatched and those chicks are thrivingI've seen pics of fowl pox and it does look like that but the patches I've seen are white. I think you said in another post that some are white. Oh no! I hope you get it under control quick and everyone recovers quickly!
What kind of problems did you have with the chick?
Wow!!! That's awesome! I hope to be able to do that someday!
That would be me after 2 hours traveling in the truck.![]()

The only time I see anything like that is in my most regular layers. Maybe they push too hardThat's not bad, I can't make it two hours!
Funny you should mention this. My power went out at work, major issue at the power station down the block, so since I have no windows in my office, and without computer, I'm pretty much dead in the water. So I came home!
Decided to spend some time with the flock, since its been raining so much, they've stayed in the run, so I let them out.
Then I noticed a big clump of poop on Psycho Chick's rear! Ick! So I grabbed her, brought her inside and washer her (dont tell hubby I used his bathtub). Luckily, I only found poop and mud. No bugs or anything foreign.
So do adult birds get pasty butt, or what would be the reason for this? She should be about to lay, so I thought eggbound, and tried feeling, but everything else seemed normal.
Any suggestions anyone?
