I had one that was crying a lot, I think on Friday. I checked it out and it had a hard lump at its vent, but on the inside. Looked like it had never pooped, no pasty butt at all. I ended up having to cull it, and decided to do a necropsy to see what happened. It had what amounted to pasty butt on the inside. A hardened mass of poop just inside the vent. Either it's digestive system was incomplete, or something had ruptured and it was septic. It was one of two chicks that had hatched from my original hens, so I am 100% certain that they are the root of my earlier hatch failures. All of the large Davis eggs hatched and those chicks are thriving

I thought you had seen that, but I was high. I just attributed you forgetting to a contact high
