chickens keep pooping in their water

Is this normal?

No matter where I put it, in the run, in the coop, on the ground, on a concrete block, the chickens keep pooping in their water dish. Is there anything I can do to keep them from pooping in their water? Right now I am changing their water several times a day because of this issue.

Chickens poop everywhere. Get a waterer that they can not stand in.

I put ours up on a small brick......they don't stand on it anymore!

My chickens can't poop in their water because it's in a closed container overhead with nipples to drink from on the bottom. Works great!

Did this too! Amazing how much cleaner the water is!

A very simple answer is to invert a large funnel on the top of the waterer (and feeder) so they can't sit on it.
