chickens kicking out straw out of nest

So we're getting an egg everyday now, but the chickens keep kicking all of the straw, pine shavings, and whatever else we put in there out. We have pieces of artificial grass lining the bottoms so there is a soft floor. Is there a trick to keeping it all in the nest?

Try putting a taller lip on the front of your nests so that they are unable to kick out the nesting materials.
