Chickens life!

have you candeled yet??? i did today and they were surely babys in the moveing around like crazy lol

I thought it was a yoke too, so I candled two other fresh (un-sat on or incubated) eggs, they had nothing in theml but the sat-on ones clearly have a yoke look about them (although with veins so there is signs of life!) Weirdly one is not floating around as much, do they start to attach after a while? Or should they always be moving as you turn the eggs? Its confusing this hatching business... think i'll just leave it the expert... the hen!

dear diary,
today the eggs look good you could see them swimming around and their heart beating! 16 more days :) im so excited yesterday i went and got thrir first brooder for the 1st week heat lamp and everything else they needed except food...that can wait about another week. my mom isnt to thrilled either. she didnt want anymore even though ik she does, started flipping on me yesterday when i told her 2 were def. fertile. shes like you better not put anymore eggs in that incubator. so i guess when one of my hens go broody i can slip some under her :) im so clever lol.
well thats all for now babysitting,

Dear Diary,
I wish I could hatch eggs. I guess thats probably what this thread is for, but oh well, you guys get to hear about my hens :) Im looking into getting an incubator. Silkielover1731, what kind of incubator do you have again? Is there one you recromend? Anyway, I didnt get to go get my hens last night :( My mom had to take my little sister ER, so I didnt get to go cuz they got back too late. Which means that there is less time for getting my eggs selling started. On the bright side, Penguin got her feet washed with yummy smelling soap and warm water. She liked that :) then she sat on my lap (inside the house) while I ate my dinner. (Dont tell her it was chicken for dinner! lol) Its rainy wet and muddy here but I let all four of my bock bocks out to eat some grass and bugs. They are so cute! And Silkielover1731, you are right, your mother never said you couldnt hatch any eggs, she just said you cant put them in the incubator.... :) Im encouraging you to do something you shouldnt, but just saying, it is addictive!

we got it from a friend last year because our broody quit sitting. i got one out of it last year (it was day 18 on the eggs anyway so didnt use it that long) but this year so far we are on day 6 and its working good. i have a towel over it just to keep the temp high. its in the office and it get chilly in here and its on the dog crate going to the door outside otherwise its really good. i was also looking at some of the Brinsea mini advanced auto turn. than when im older upgrade to one of the big ones to start my breeding bussinuss.

Dear diary,
yesterday while i was makeing clay pots to sell out by the road when it gets warmer my dad went to look at an old anique table and chairs with my moms friend. he came back with the best bday prezent ever! (my bday isnt for a few more weeks. (the chicks are due to hatch 3 days before)) it was a gokart. so my sisters bf took it or a test drive. than i did and i didnt know what i was doing so i got all confused so just stepped on the peddle and now the yard isnt the prettiest lol but i let my chickens out for like 5 min and taylor (youngest silkie) was chasing me around the yard lol so than i stopped and she jumped on the back so i took her for a ride (very slowly) she loved it!!!!!!!
thats all for now,
