The laying cycle is very dependent on the amount of light they are getting.

Most of our birds are just coming back on line after not laying well at all over the winter.

If you add supplemental light on a timer, to extend the amount of daylight hours you might trigger them in to getting started. Try to provide 14 hours of total light.

Good luck..

another factor is feed, what type of food are you feeding them? Sometimes upping the protein content can help. I was given the tip of supplementing layer with some calf manna for about a week (read the directions, you don't feed them much of it) That got my girls going after the winter blahs

Just to clarify, are you saying that they were laying and stopped or that they have never started laying?

They go out every day and have never layed. I'll put a lamp in and get more protein, hopefully that'll help. Thanks

I don't know what area of the country you are in but mine just started laying again but we had an awful cold winter. Hopefully yours will start soon.

I've had a few of my 8 month old hens not laying as good as they were in February when they started laying. I'm sure the reason is the crappy cold weather. It won't stop raining and it's been cold and my hens hate it.

Have you Wyandottes laid any eggs? My two GLW were laying and thanks to the lousy weather they stopped.

if they are out free ranging every day, do you think there is a chance they are laying, but you just haven't found the eggs? I didn't think my ducks were laying until I found a pile of about 30 eggs under the deck

You might try locking them in the coop for a few days just to see if they lay.
