There is a portion of my new yard that is on a slope, not real steep, but definitely hard to mow. My question is this, is there a reason that I couldn’t site the coop on the level part of the yard but build the run incorporating the not too useable slope?

It is excellent for drainage! Assuming the area below the run is ok having chicken poop water running into it. I would incorporate a retaining wall at the bottom to hold in some of whatever the run floor is made of. Even if it is bare dirt. A 2 by 12 board, some cinder blocks....something.

Good idea ... made me think too that I probable need to not locate it on the septic area/leech field. That is going to be a new experience for this in-town gal.

Yeah, don't put anything over the tank or leach field.
..and flush nothing but #1, #2, and plain TP...go easy on the cleaning chemicals too.
Sorry, just read another story about a poorly treated septic system with 'baby' wipes floating in the yard.

Thank you, I’ve looked up and read a lot of “dos and don’ts” with a septic. I won’t have a garbage disposal either so that will be a whole other learning curve :)

Do you remember a few months ago someone posted a picture of their new boughten coop, seemed like it was rounded ... reminded me of a “Hobbit house” but now I can’t find it. :(

Oh, Yeah....all dishes/pans thoroughly scraped(grease too) before reaching sink.
Have never had disposal or dishwasher.

Vaguely recall a curved roofed prefab coop.....wasn't a good design, tho very attractive.
Not sure how to find it.<scratcheshead>
