chickens picking at my duck...help?

I have 2 ducks that live harmoniously with the chickens til 1 goes to lay. The hens peck her terribly until she gets off her nest. The chickens have plenty of nests for themselves. I don't want to seperate if I don't have to. Any suggestions on how to stop this.

Hey...sorry, I'm far from an expert, but do you think the duck would nest in an enclosed box with a round cut-out hole? It would give her more protection from the hens. I have no idea why they'd pick on her like that, except maybe some instinctual territorial thing.
