I picked up granite grit today, the girls all came over and checked it out, we'll see how much is gone in the morning! I put it in it's own dish. Everyone seems good.

I found out that CPI ( local coop) produces feed, I'm going to look into what they are offering. I also found Kent and Dumor feeds as TSC, they are a bit more expensive, but not point in feeding cardboard right? ( we always say that feeding Ol' Roy is just like feeding your dogs cardboard, lol )

Do you have any thoughts on any of these feeds? Or what feeds would you suggest?

The rest of the label for the feed they're on now includes: choline chloride, folic acid, menodion sodium?, bisulfite complex, methionne supp., calcium carbonate, salt, copper cholorid, zinc oxide,sodium selenile, and a couple others I still can't read because the tag has been through the ringer, lol. I see no vitamin A listed at all.

I've been reading a lot on Dumor feeds lately and I can't say I've heard anything really very good about them. I'm hearing "more poop, very stinky, lost of waste" a lot. There's a whole thread going on about Dumor at the moment on the feeding board. Kent I've heard good things about, though.

The co-op might be a good deal. Can you get label examples from them? I'd honestly say as much as I've heard about Dumor lately, I'd feed Country Lanes intead, seriously. Purina, Nutrena, are great feeds. I've heard Blue Seal is very very good. The co-op might have a nice feed as it would be fresh. I'd just compare to the labels of the ones below and aim towards the Layena's good points. Some of the MG feed's ingredients are exception - the fermentation products are always a good thing. Being in Nebraska, I'd imagine your grains will be way better than ours (which is what makes MG such a bad feed here - grain quality).

Well, it just so happens that the CPI feed is milled within an hour of me and my friend is the HR person for the company, so I'll see what she can find out for me. The neighbors and I might get together and picking up a load at a time from the mill if they use enough. They use more than I do because they have more! LOL

I'll also check out Nutrena. I'm not a fan of Purina simply because their feed isn't on the top list for chin folk, and they don't really make a good dog food either. I'm not saying they can't make a good feed, it's just one of those things you get in your head I suppose. Nutrena is good though! And I'll check out the CPI feed, my friend I was talking with this evening feeds it and I'll be in town tomorrow so I can stop and check price and ingredients!

Oh now that can be nice! I'd love to be able to do something like that with someone here, get a mill to make something specific for me. Our local mill is 'alright' but I hadn't really asked about what they can make. Maybe I should. I am not really thrilled with my horse feed at the moment. Hmmm wheels are turning.

The Nutrena I was very very happy with it. Other than Bluebonnet that we have down here I think it was the prettiest, nicest feed I've used - put the best condition on the babies. Unfortunately it's a bit far from me for just one feed when I can have all my feed delivered from another store. I definitely liked it way better than the Purina we get. Of course, I used game starter so that had an effect on their condition, too.
