Chickens Toe Nail

My 22 week old silkie jumped off one of their chairs and landed in rocks and broke her whole toenail off. i washed it out with water and put neosporin on it. how should i wrap it to keep all the sand out because they are in sand and really soft dirt all day. what all should i do so it doesn’t get infected?

this seems to be quite a common occurrence, and in both cases I've had here it healed in a couple of days on its own. I think it's quite important to let the air get to it; also try and keep her out of areas with lots of poop. Clean the coop floor asap.
