Chickens walk sideways and jump then claw you

One of my roosters does that. I have a big fishermen's net and when he decides to take me on (usually as I gather "his" eggs) I pop that over him. Sometime I pull him over to me and pet him, and sometime I just let him go after I've established my superiority. The lesson doesn't last forever, but it does remind him I'm in charge (sorta). Today this same rooster chased the hens from getting the lettuce I had just thrown in the pen. Then, after they had gone, he "discovered" the treat and fast clucked them over to him..willing to share the goodies he found for them

. Ya gotta love chickens, they are quite the characters.
Seriously though, some roosters can really get mean, and if you have young children, they can be dangerous. You shouldn't let them get away with bad behavior, but lots of times it's just a matter of letting them know what is and what is not acceptable. Good Luck!
