What is it you want from poultry, etc? Eggs, meat, chicks to sell? That decision should help narrow the field. Check out the forums for ducks, geese, turkeys as well for something that sounds like the best fit for you.

Hello, chickens may or may not be for you, that's something you'll have to decide. As with any other animal, there are pros and cons. For example, a pro is their delicious eggs and a con is there are few vets willing to treat an injured or ill chicken (from my experience). They do take care and it can be an expense especially starting out, but for some, having a flock is very rewarding.

I never in my life imagined I'd have chickens and I certainly didn't imagine I'd become addicted to them. I plan to have them for the rest of my life and have built my coop, run and pen to last that long.

If it helps any, I didn't even want chickens (wife made me). Now I can't imagine not having chickens.

My husband didn't want them, either, but I do catch him petting them!

I love my girls, but they are a commitment. Vacations require finding someone willing to come over twice a day, and evenings are always cut short! They do provide a lot of love and joy, though. I can't imagine life without them.
