chickenstock 2 for oxford maine- August 15th

Hoppy, Cindy Kilgore from Dr. Hoenigs office sent me a recent one. Of course, knowing me, I dumped it. Although I did send it to the club...and I have not hunted through the computer for it.

Processed another and last 8 birds. I have a 7.5 size freezer... FULL

I will be peddling my chickens to folks that helped me through my mothers crossing. Man, that was 48 total birds for approx. 220 lbs, last ones I did I packaged sliced breasts, legs, thighs and wings, and most whole.

I've accomplished a lot and pretty proud of it. Wont have to grow any birds next year, I'll be so sick of them by then

and Turkey too! ha ha

if you bring your birds to the farmington basket show sunday, you can have them all tested. if it's austin brann testing he has been charging $10 for up to 20 birds. you need to bring all the chickens, turkeys and guineas, and (ducks too right?) that are over 1 yr old and any under 1 yr that you plan to show. the first time, everyone needs to be tested then it's 10% of the flock and one of each breed yearly. I know there is a list of testers online but from what spook said, it's not current and I couldn't find it.

I don't plan on showing them. I don't want to take them anywhere, I keep a closed flock, all my birds have come from eggs that hatched here. I definitely just want to find out about having it done here. Thanks for the help

wwwwweaaaallll.... don't thank us for the help (lol) cause we didn't help out much. I will continue working at it, also for a tester, contact Bill Morrison, the state poultry tech, he does go to peoples home to test.

Yup it is that soon! It is shaping up very well as a matter of fact. We have goats, dogs, ferrier to demonstrate. Its looking to be good. Lots of educational material for us poultry people, so its looking to be a fun event!

Out of curiosity who is the farrier?

I won't have anything to bring this time but will be looking. Had a fox decide to help me cull my flock.

. Three of fifteen survived. So no more free-ranging. But now I have a secure fenced in area running off the coop and am ready to start rebuilding.

ah, that totally stinx! I'm sorry to hear this, the farrier (sorry for the spelling error earlier) it was a J name, Jerry, Jason, John, if you call tractor supply, ask for Maria (743-7200 I believe) and it is someone she uses.
Please everyone, stop by the table and pick up or atleast check out the information that the Extention Service has supplied us with. Its basic stuff we know, but those that want birds, it may help them out.
Anyways, does anyone have a flock of Russian Orloff's that would like to adopt a beautiful rooster!!! ??? He is young and I want him to go to a flock with others like him. They are rare. I do not have another of his breed or I'd keep him (like I need another rooster! )

Again Widget, so sorry to hear of your loss, that honestly stinx. I am leaving my 2 Ameraucana's out in the run tonight. Its closed in with hardware cloth and secure, but I think they are a bit touched and I have to fight with them, crawl in and ugh.

I won't be able to make it but I have plenty more birds at home to sell. blue laced red wyandottes only, pick up or I can meet part way. ages 6 weeks and younger if anyone is looking.
willing to meet in central maine or maybe in rumford on the day I'm going there.

Can't wait to go.

Shop/Swap/learn all kinda of fun stuff!
