My friend took 3 cockerels off someone's hands. A black one, a gold one, and a barred one, I believe. They'll have lots of room to roam, not to mention lots of hens to court when they're ready.

MikeS(erama) :

Thanks again Shay for a great swap! Had a lot of fun! I definitely agree with ya shay, it was a total hang out day, and a perfect one for it! So glad it's getting to be fall weather! Got a beautiful little Serama roo (thank you Gypsy!), some jellies/jams and a Bantam Salmon Favorelle (thank you Chickie'sMoma!), and some corn and won the Veggie Basket with the raffle (thank you Shay! The tomatoes were delicious and the corn's in the pot now....I can't wait to eat it!) Can't wait to see ya all next month!

Oooh, another Faverolles convert!

My son argued with me forever about bringing more home. We need to downsize, and there's the shipment coming in next week with 6 blue/black/splash bantam favs.

Wish we could have stayed longer today. Got the minivan loaded for Westford tomorrow though.

Shay, I found out there is an Ameraucana breeder right in the next town over from me. I sent an email to see if they have a pullet/hen available. When I find out, I'll get back to you (should be soon I would think, long before you go to that bantam swap). How is my Daffy behaving for you?

i'm Deb btw with the corgi named Ein (short for Einstein). thanks for the info on them!

sorry to get back to you a little late but i was exhausted last night when i got home and crashed on the couch and never checked BYC to see what everyone was talking about the rest of the night! Ein got a chance to crash on the front seat in my car on the long trip home and he was pretty tuckered out the rest of the night too! Chickie also got a chance to chill out with me on the couch before he tried to nip at my toes and then he got put in his indoor pen for the night. i think he enjoyed being back in the house for the night because he looked at me with a stink eye this afternoon when i put him in his pen with the other birds. (thank goodness he doesn't crow till i wake him in the mornings when he's been in the house!) thanks Shay and Jose for helping to take care of his spurs for me!

everyone, i hope you enjoy your jams/jellies! we should have a new batch of habanero/sweet hot fire jelly the next time we come down for the day! i wish i had more black raspberry for everyone but that will have to be for next year!

Mike and Darlene, enjoy those sweet fav girls! you'll really love them when they start their 'giggling laugh' that they do as adults, their egg song is even more unique when you hear that! they'll be good winter producers of eggs for you too! i'm hoping to have a few eggs incubating from my 2 other lines going this fall/winter so i may have some unrelated cockerels to sell next spring if you decide you want one later! i'm sure Poultry Run will also have some unrelated birds since her daughter raises them too!

well crap that was a no-go. she wrote back: "We had too many losses in the March flood to part with anyone right now. If you don't have any luck elsewhere, try me again in the spring."

I wrote back and asked if she knew of who else I can try, but who knows. Shay, I'll get back to you this week about possibly looking for an EE.

Have you checked here? There are a couple listed for CT.
