Here is a link to the video of the hawk that got into my pen. He managed to get in where the deer netting on top had come loose and fallen into the pen, but he got out through a corner that was not secured with zip ties as well as it is now!

Yes, but deadly beauty! I am hoping he wont come back becasue before i took the video I chased him back and forth in the run trying to get him to leave the way he came in, so now i think he is going to rmember (I hope) the wacky giant chicken in the green coat!

Sorry to hear about your hawk trouble. We had a great horned owl when we first moved where we are now and it took several, it would come early in the morning when we let them out for the day. It moved on once we kept them penned up for a while and there was no more meals.

I think I agree with the cold bit. Usually the first snow of the winter melts away pretty fast, we got snow as we were leaving for CT on Friday and still had it Sat night and it's still here

Light cover but enough...

Sorry to hear about your roo Darleen...

Kathy, it was the little roo I got from you last spring! He stayed so small, definitley a class A and he was such a good little roo to his serama gals! I am so tired of these darn hawks. They have made such a comeback in numbers, they are all I see everywhere. Yesterday on my way down to Mass. I counted one every 50 yards down the median strip on route 3.

Oh no that stinks, yeah he was a cutie! I got some more hatching I can let you know if I have any roos out of the bunch to replace him..lol

Oh wow neat video...They sure are clever little things huh!! Quick thinking of the video camera.

I figured from now on I am going to document as much of them as I can and also any remains of chickens they have killed. Someone told me that if a hawk becomes a "pest" I can norify fish and game and they will do something. Not sure what they do, but as long as they do it I am fine with that! Let me know on the seramas!!
