I am happy to say that my birds seem to be getting better. The only symptom that a few of them have right now is one eye that is stuck closed, but I put neosporin on the ones that had that and they opened right up, so I will see how they look tomorrow. I am so glad not to hear hat sneezing or wheezing when I am in the coop. I cleaned the coop today and gave new fresh shavings so hopefully i wont have this battle again. Jackie, Thanks for the Medicine applicators that you brought to Shay, and to the both of you for the helpful advise thru this battle. I hope we can all get our birds on the mend. It seems to make me wonder if there was perhaps something at one of the shows we all attended that we brought home?? That is a good possibility, and i would wonder if it was at the Oxford show, because for time line matters, and incubation time, the date of that show matches. Not to mention that the 2 guys I bought birds form there last year were there again selling this year. Everything I bought from them last year died and another person i know that bought from them had birds that died too...all of them. If anyone wants to PM me I can describe them to you just in case you bought from them and compare notes. They are easily recognizable due to what they had for sale.

Sorry to hear about everyones bird trouble. But glad to hear good news Darlene, it's soo hard to lose them you feel so helpless. We haven't had bird trouble, just personal problems, life, marriage etc.. Doesn't look like we will make the congress, lots of personal stuff going on right now.. Pretty upset about it, but there will be other shows and the swaps will be here before we know it. Incubator is back up and running so little chickies soon

I am sorry to hear of your problems LAura. Especially the marriage issues...personally I think a marriage license should be re-newable like a drivers license! LOL
I can't wait for spring to get here, not only for the swaps, but for the better weather on my own body. Cold weather really makes it tough on my fibro. Hopefully 2011 will be a better year for us all. I am hoping to make the Congress, but Wayne will probably bi&*$ about going!

Just a freindly reminder.
In order to sell poultry at the chickenstocks comeing up your flocks must be tested and provide a copy of certificate to me before entering the property.
Animals will be checked out if any are seen with colds they will be ask to remove them from the property.

Hope to see everyone in spring.
Ps the next chickenstock will be held in April, date still pending.

Oh thanks! i was so freeking over this whole thing. Today the ones with the eyes crusted are also looking 90% better. That neosporin worked better than the eye drops I got from that poultry docs website. They were expensive for a tiny bottle that was not even filled all the way. I should be good to add more birds once I know it is all over and done with. I will be adding to the free range flock so I will be going to Westford on Sunday to see what may be available.

Hi Everyone,

Am just getting back to BYC lists after a few hectic months, and hope folks have been well....

Will be ordering some Orpington chicks from Hynkjc for the Spring, and was wondering if anyone else might be interested. I would like 15 or so, and 25 can fit in the box for the same $40.00 shipping fee....

Here is the ad, with description and prices....most are $5 per chick, except for the Lavenders, which are $20.00. Hnkjc has some Lovely birds, which you can see on her website.

I have put the order in, but if I hear back soon, will be happy to add to it.....

P.S . Is there someone within 1/2 hour or so from me (Newburyport area) that would be willing to incubate some eggs in the next few days or week? Our first rooster passed on, and we are saving the hens eggs. I don't have a good track record on hatching yet, so do need someone with experience. Just a dozen or so eggs. My daughter is taking his passing very hard - he was from our first order of chicks, and a real sweetheart.
