You should have gone to the Reptile Expo in Manchester a couple Sundays ago.... two huge rooms FULL of creepy crawlies! Snakes and lizards and all kinds of stuff as far as the eye could see! One dealer had this HUGE black snake that he let all the kids hold... it was so mellow and gorgeous! I wanted one of everything... I ALMOST bought a tortoise, and a chameleon, and a bearded dragon, and a leopard gecko, and a tarantula, and a pueblan milk snake, and a redtailed boa constrictor. But I showed immense restraint and didn't buy anything! Don't know how I was able to accomplish that!

Kinda like a poultry show?? Never heard of it, maybe a good thing with Sarah. Told her about gypsy's new snake and she went nuts.

It was a whole bunch of reptile dealers with their animals and supplies for sale. There were display cases that were sectioned into little glass top compartments with a snake or two in each, plus cages & containers of lizards, turtles, tarantulas, frogs, and a bunch of other creepy crawlies. One dealer was even selling big walking sticks, centipedes (*shudder* - those things creep me out!) & hissing roaches. Seemed like a lot of $ to drop on a big bug tho! LOL

LOL I understand.
there is a huge issue with letting this type of snake run around loose, ya dont do it!
this snake has the potential to require stitches if anyone is bitten. The teeth are not snake teeth, If I can get Rita of here I will have ger grab a side picture of the teeth. very strange looking teeth.

Feeding snakes is a private thing never to be done in front of the squimish.
and I never ever feed live.

I stopped feeding live after I started working at the science museum and they always stunned their mice & rats before feeding to the snakes. None of my snakes after that ate live... always stunned or frozen. I got into an arguement with some dummy with a holier than thou attitude that snakes will NEVER eat dead food and you ALWAYS have to feed them alive (he was one of those jerks who thought feeding his snakes was a form of entertainment
roll.png
). I said "well maybe you should have told my snakes because I never had a problem feeding them killed food every time!"

Unfortunately you will always run into people who think snakes will only eat live.,
I dont put on entertainment for anyone.
ALL kids, dogs and any other distraction is outside, even husband and kids when I feed. Cassi is always with in ear shot if I should get into trouble.
the smaller pythons and boas I dont mind if the kids watch I have been hit by the smaller ones and it isnt a huge deal kinda like getting hit by a garden snake.
BUT THIS ONE not a chance, NO ONE will be around when I feed him,
These guys are lightning fast and too much can go wrong to quickly, if you ever saw the teeth on these snakes you would know what I mean. we are talking major stictches here.

How big is he? My boa was about 8 feet (I really miss her), and I cared for a 12 foot boa when I worked for the Springfield science museum down in Mass. she was a sweetheart but BIG... luckily she was mellow and loved people. If you opened her cage and she wanted out, she'd run you over and it would be a battle to stuff miss stubborn back in. LOL I cared for a friend's 14 ft burmese python for a couple months once. I went near her cage once after I had held a rat and she decided she was really hungry and struck right at my face... luckily there was strong wire between me & her. But I can say my heart did fully stop for a couple seconds! If she had hit me, there would have been stitches and maybe reconstructive surgery for sure!

Remind me to tell you the story about the two weirdo Florida Kingsnakes who I also cared for at the science museum.... one was terrified of live mice, and the other would try to follow people like a puppy.

I have no way of measuring him but a guestamate would be5 ft maybe more, no one here I trust enough to measure while I secure that head.
kinda like grabbing onto a living rattle snake. same tyoe of strike, just no venom erp we over took Shays thread on the swap
Sorry shay Lily go to Face Book

He isnt too bad and I have handled a lot more aggressive snakes, I just dont like to , all it takes ia a split second loss of concentration and bang your hit and bleeding.

Now is anyone interested in Seedling Whisteria? could be pink purple or white.
cant tell as we were picking up wind scattered seeds, and a lot have germinated and look really nice.
should bloom next spring. best part about seedlings they blossom way before a cutting will.

i never had luck getting my wisteria to bloom the 15 years it had been growing in my parent's yard. now we can't get rid of the stump and the tendrils it keeps trying to send out! i'd love to have some but i know it will need some tough support when it gets big enough.
