Just so you know Meyers doesn't have true ameraucanas, they are EEs. Are you looking for true ameraucanas, or just birds that lay blue/green eggs?

Meyers calls them "standard" so I kinda thought they meant standard as in true breed. How do you verify? I'm still a newbie really.
The blue green eggs are the most important, the ones I have now I couldn't vouch for them being true Ameraucanas because I bought them from another farm when he ordered from a hatchery. Don't know which hatchery. My 1 year olds (well, I just lost one,

) were so tame, my 2 month olds are complete spaz's, but finally calm down after I catch them. After losing Fifi I got an underdog RIR rooster from the same farmer, and he totally people-shy. The other rooster was about to kill the poor guy, and my girls needed a protector now that the head girl was killed, so it was win-win. Except that the RIR is in culture shock from going from an indoor run/coop to free range.
Long way to say egg color & friendliness are what I'm looking for.

oh- PS- I could order from another hatchery if needed, Meyers doesn' have a min # of chicks to order, so they're my only choice if I order only for myself. Unless I find someone at the chickenstock with Ameraucanas*.

Standard just means the size - large fowl, not bantam. None of the larger hatcheries have true ameraucanas. If you want those then most likely you'll have to find a private breeder. That would mean getting either straight run chicks or pairs. There is a guy in western MA who has some. I've lost his card. Maybe muffi still has his contact info if you're interested.

But if you just want the colored eggs then EEs will be fine. They come in all sorts of colors and patterns too.

It really doesn't matter to me though, becasue we just want the colored eggs, i don't breed them. One of my EE's actually lays a PINK egg!

Yup, blue, green, pink or even the occasional brown are possible.

if anyone is interested in a blue EE/Cochin cockerel i may have one with me the next time i go to Shay's! i'd say he is about 8 weeks old at this time. he got the ee comb but the foot feathering of the cochin!

I wish I saw your post on Tuesday! I just got an RIR rooster/bodyguard. No way can I house two roosters! My family would disown me!

colors are black 1 has a tint of white spot under belly and chicn, teh other is black with brown strike on head and brown markings on toes and tip of tail.

so far Merl has been a sweetheart but has been bouncing around on the other 3 chicks in with him
