Chickenstock in Parsonfiel ME I"m in a go mode-Will not cancel!

I appreciate you gesture banter, I am on immune suppressant medications for my arthritis and this is concerning me. I am not scared, I'm not locking the door, yet I wish to live on the wind of caution.
Lets hope they come up with a vaccine for it, that way we can all breathe a bit easier!

I'm not panicking, I just think it's silly to tempt fate. I would like to host it, but it looks like it will be a day by day scenario. I had the Hong Kong flu as a child, and nearly died. Also, I have no clue what various town governments may decide.

about public gatherings, so we'll just have to wait and see. Outdoors is certainly not as risky as indoors!

That will surely make business boom or not for you. Fresh air and country is a bit safer then shopping.
I have been told so many times that I'm being a "Fatalist" where a fatalists says the sky is falling and a Realists saw the news and its a meteorite that's going to land in an approx area the size of your neighborhood and you choose to go away on "vaca" for the next 48 hours.
These viral infections are serious, they may sound like the sky is falling, but often I like to ask the simple question to myself "what makes me exempt from catching these things?"
I choose to er on the side of caution. Banter, you must have heard or known someone with TB, Polio, Rubella, Tetanus. Once upon a time you died from these things. The Swine flu...it is killing- er- people will die.
Thanks banter for your thoughtfulness.

There are confirmed cases in NH too, but what are we all going to do, hide in our houses til it blows over? I know I still have to shop and DH still has to go to work. I don't think a chickenstock is any worse than a grocery store. I understand why you are postponing and that is your choice, but I will not be avoiding swaps until it is illegal to gather!

Here is the problem, and why I postponed-I will try to have one this year at a later date.
My husband is a Walgreens Manager in a high volume store in Windham, Me.
He is also a pharmacy tech, and fills scripts for sick people, when the pharmacy is swamped. His store, because of it's location, fills scripts for tourists from all over the country( and the world) on their way through N.E. If he or his staff gets sick I'd have to cancel anyway. He already works 5, 10-12 hr days a week, + half a Saturday, and (having gone through similar scenarios before)
he'll have to work every day if the flu takes off. I to will be exposed. I just don't want to have to cancel last minute. I also don't want to expose any birds, as they can get and carry this strain of flu. I'm just being realistic in our particular circumstance. Besides, there are lots of fairs around in the fall
in our area to make the trip worthwhile!

Spook and Banter,
I dont think either of you are being fatalists.
The way the News is playing this up s insane.
every case is made in to a major drama. they go on and on and on about it, it hasnt seen a lot of rest since it all started.
The media is making this way worse than it needs to be. I have shut the news off and only turn it on to get the weather now.

On auto Immune issues, I have a grandadughter with Diabtese and worry constantly , but she has to go to school and we all know schols are self contained germ carriers.
Am I a bad parent for taking her to a swap and trying to figure ot a way to keep her out of the school?
Fresh air is the key to killing this virus, not an enclosed building where parents do not care enough about anything but the almighty$ and send a sick kid in.

Banter I understand with Hubby working in a Pharmacy. It spreds from those places also, and the likes of hospitals, ER's, Nursing homes, Institutions etc. anyone working in those areas are fully exposed plus EMT's Police and Fire Personel, everyone and anyone working in Day Care, or any Outlet Store..
its going to be a bumpy spring I fear. we will just d what we have to do to stay healthy.
If we think of all the places we "CAN" be exposed the least likely place is in an open market situation.

I will take Parsonsfield off the calander, when you get ready to host the swap let me know and I will get you back into the books.

STA: changed the Oxford one untill I hear different, I think I mis read the post.
