Chickenstock in West Gardiner, Maine Oct. 12

It will be open to the public and free but I am awaiting to find the location either fairgrounds or the sportsman club (which is right up the road from the fairgrounds)

Sad day, the posted photo of Roger...well he is no longer with us, a hawk got him this afternoon.
I only have Penny left and I hope I can find a couple other cochins to give her some friends.
What a foolish mess I am.

I am sorry for your loss Spook, I myself have also lost 2 this week to illness. One was fine one day and couldnt move the next and she died hours after I found her. The other started acting weird the day after the first died and she went out yesterday AM and sat under a tree and when I went back out to check on her she was gone and we havent seen her since.

Sorry for your loss too. Seems like its been a hard year on all of our flocks, from Cocci, general illness, hawks or fading away.
I can only hope I can get poor Penny a friend this weekend. She is the one that survived Cocci and is finally growing up to meet the size of her litter mates (that are gone.)
Take care all, thanks for the sympathy and much back to you.

I've never been to a chickenstock before could someone fill me in on what it is. Do you show your bird, is it a place to just buy and sell? Are crafters and venders there? The one in Windsor is at the fairground on the 5 of Oct? Want to make sure i have it right

It is a place to buy, sell or trade your birds. Or just a place to come and look what others have for sale. Vendors can set up if they wish. Just a great time to talk chicken with other people with the same interests.

Is it free to the public at Windsor and Litchfield? If not how much does it usually cost to get in? Sorry for being a pain.
Sally

Its free, you only have to be nice to the locals! lol.
Nothing is offered other then what you bring. No venders, just critters with feathers, well, thats not always true, some people bring kids and other critters.
Everyone just enjoys each other and have a fun day with chatting about chickens.
Feel free to join in, invite friends and family, the only real cost is what you choose to buy.
