Not sure, you will have to go back and search the boards cause I know there was one area they wanted it all put, just not sure which post it is. Miss a day here and it is like you miss a year!

I would go ahead and list it here and if its wrong someone will let you know I am sure.

OK, so I look out andthere is silly mother hen with now only 6 chicks in the yard, right out in plain sight of the circling crows and a small hawk! So I decide to do the humane thing and set up a nice warm brooder tank in the house with nice clean water, feed and shavings. Well, these little suckers are louder than the most annoying alarm clock, mother hen can hear them outside, she at first doesnt even notice they are missing, then is at the door trying to get in the house...to heck with it all, they are back in the doghouse with her. That lasted about 6 minutes cause I just looked out and there they all are again, crow bait! Oh well, hopefully she will protect them and we will get a headcount at dusk.

You should write a comic strip with your chickens as the characters... I so can see you running around trying to catch the chicks in your yard...LOL

OK, so I left mutha hen and her six chicklets out in the yard for the day. It was rather funny watching her teach them to dust, scratch and then every once in a while, she would lay down and they would scramble under her for some heat! I built a stepping stone ramp up into the doghouse and when I checked on them all at dusk, they were all there under her for the night! I hope they will continue to be protected by her. I have never had a hen hatch out the chicks before becuase i am too busy loosing eggs to temp. spikes in the bator! I wonder??? Is there a place to buy broody hens? They do a much better job! LOL
