Chickentrain's Dog Q&A

This is a fair rundown, and as I type this Lula is licking out the mayonnaise jar she stole. 😏

How do they treat her? They haven't tried to earn her trust. I walk her to the door and they carry her in, usually peeing in fear. She bursts back out and drags the tech to my truck jumping in quickly and hiding in the back seat.
She hates the truck, I've barely got her to the coax her in point.

Poor girl:(. Lots of the clinics do that now because of Covid.

Read up on "clicker training," because that's where I stole the idea from ;)

You have to start by teaching the dog what the click is for-- click and give a treat, and repeat quite a few times.

Once the dog knows that click means "a treat is coming," you can click when the dog does the right thing, and then he knows which thing earned the treat (so it doesn't matter if he moves while you're grabbing the treat.)

Some people use clickers, some click their tongue, some use a "marker word" instead (yes or good or some other word that is short and easy to recognize. It's probably best if the word doesn't get used too often in normal conversation.)
I want to try a clicker because my dog moves before I have ended what I am saying, so I will start saying good but she will move somewhere in the middle of it then understand it when she has moved
