Chicks (almost any breed, orps. pref.) wanted in E. NC

Actually, I don't have any recent ones.

They are standard laying orps, but the biggest ones I could find. Only the top colors and sizes will be bred however, the rest will be out in the community pen for egg production (eating eggs). We'll probably separate them out by this weekend. Since we only have orp. roos in our community pen, we know they'll be pure whenever they start laying and we're ready to hatch. After I get them separated out into their chicken tractor, I'll snap a few shots of our hatching egg layers. We LOVE our orps. just about the most out of all chickens.

Why do you love orps?

Steve answered my craiglist add. How funny. He said he had orps ready to go. I just have to get a coop built asap.

They are slow growers, true. BUT they are really lovely. Not white to get dirty..which I like! Plus if you really want to dabble in genetics, you can get diff. colors (someone on here even has mottled ones!), diff. sizes, they make great show birds, or standard egg laying birds. Plus the roosters have never once been aggressive towards anyone around here from my 4 yr old up to me.. so I guess there's lots of reasons to like 'em.

I am in SE VA, Surry County near Wakefield VA, I have buff orpingtons, crosses, and many many other breeds. I also have 2 show quality show girls that I hatched but don't really want. I have too many others to mess with the silkies. Those chicks are 6-8 weeks old, both naked neck, black skin, supposedly show quality show girls. I can't tell the sex. If you want to see more I have a breed list on my web site www.endlessfarm.net. take a look, my contact info is on there also.

I can give you a nice price on some young chicks that I won't be keeping for my breeding flock, but they will be great gentle brown egg layers.
