Chicks aren’t under brooder

I’ve got three week old chicks. They’ve got a brinsea brooder plate and have used it really well. The past few days I’ve noticed they don’t go under there very much and it’s at the highest height as their brahmas and are getting quite leggy 😂

I’ve just checked them now and they’re snuggled together next to the brooder but not under it? They feel nice and warm but I don’t want them to get a chill in the night?

is it because it’s too hot under the brooder? Will they be ok?

They know if its too hot or cold. They need to wean off the heat over time.

Depending on your temperatures at 3 weeks they may not need the heat at all any longer. Trust that at this age they know how much heat they need. You can continue providing the pad for now but if they continue to avoid using it for a few nights in a row, you can remove it.
